Automotive Engineering

The Master’s degree of automotive engineering represents a unique combination of technology and management in the area of automobile construction. In addition to technical knowledge and content, we offer practically based instruction in a high-tech environment with the most modern laboratories, design studios, workshops and test-bed facilities.

You will be working together with expert teaching staff drawn from positions of responsibility in industry. During your studies, you will learn how to work innovatively in highly qualified teams, thereby acquiring the skills of efficiency, specialised subject knowledge and leadership qualities.

The wide extent of the department’s co-operations with industrial partners makes it possible to undertake an interdisciplinary approach and have the best conditions for study, thus ensuring that you garner the best possible preparation for the professional challenges that lie ahead.

Additionally, as a centre for automobile design and construction, Graz provides the perfect environment for practice-oriented study and projects.

 

New Elements in the Master’s degree programme

The Master’s degree programme contains a number of new additions. Amongst the most important of these are:

  • The introduction of new lectures and seminars, such as Applied Mathematics, Advanced Driving Dynamics, 2 Wheeler Technologies and Commercial Vehicles.

  • The introduction of elective subjects: this opens the way to an individualisation of study areas in the second and third semesters.

  • Participation in the largest student project at the University of Applied Sciences FH JOANNEUM – Formula Student

  • English from the first semester. Generally lectures will be held in English.

  • A possible foreign exchange in the third semester of studies.
