European, constitutional and administrative law

Course content

The course provides an introduction to European law and Austrian constitutional and administrative law and thus creates the basis for understanding the deepening of special legal matters. The core contents be: [1] Introduction to the law: especially structure of the legal system [2] Basic principles of constitutional law [3] State functions [4] Legislation [5] Administration [6] International Law and Constitutional Law [7] Austria in the European Union [8] Legal Protection and Control

Learning outcomes

After completing this module, students can name and correctly assign the sources of Austrian and European law; know the basics of Austrian civil law, are able to interpret treaty texts and solve cases in this context. Likewise, students are familiar with the structure of the legal system and the principles of Austrian constitutional and administrative law and European law. The Fundamentals of Law module lays the foundations for further consolidation in corporate law, tax law and banking and insurance-related legal matters.
