Course content

In this coure will be selected computer programs in the field of word processing, spreadsheets and statistical analysis presented and applied at an advanced level.

The core contents include:
[1] Word processing: directories, field functions, forms, form letters, macros, data integration
[2] Spreadsheet: Functions, Analyze, Filter and Sort, Scopes, Macros, Charts, Data Integration
[3] Presentations: Target group orientation, basic rules of presentation creation, embedding of external content, control of the presentation process
[4] Databases: concept of databases, database structure, queries, SQL
[5] Introduction to programming: programming languages; current developments: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain
[6] Introduction to R: Fundamentals, Variables, Dealing with Data, Graphical Representation

The course is completely held as a blended learning course to promote the digital skills of the participants and the flexibility of the time.

Learning outcomes

After completing the Personal Skills & English module, students will be able to use advanced word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software, familiarize themselves with common programming environments, and create the first low-threshold program as well as soft skills such as presentation skills, negotiation techniques, conflict management, analytical problem solving and are able to communicate in German and English at the highest level.
In addition, students learn the techniques of scientific work, are able to raise research questions and to answer them with scientific methods and to write them as part of a scientific work.
