Analysis of Financial Reports
Integrated course, 3.00 ECTS
In this course students are equipped with a structural understanding of financial reports. The focus is set on the relative analysis of corporate performance and value, based on publicly availble accounting information and comparables. A distinction is made between the financial sector and other industries.
The core contents of the course include:
 Analysis of financial reports; qualitative business analysis;
 Comparability of financial reports;
 Key indicators for non-financial companies;
 Key indicators for financial companies;
 Case study: comparative business analysis.
Optional contents include:
 Valuation by multiples;
 DCF valuation.
This course may be taught in English.
Graduates can derive essential company information from quarterly and annual reports published in accordance with international accounting standards. In particular, they understand the specifics of banking and insurance financial statements as opposed to their industries.
Graduates have extended financial competence with regard to the documentation and evaluation of the business success of companies and the ability to independently prepare key figure analyses.
