Corporate Governance

Course content

This course develops a general understanding of corporate governance. Special consideration is given to the standards of good and sustainable conduct of business as established in the Austrian market.

The core contents of this course include:
[1] Definition of terms; scope;
[2] Austrian Corporate Governance Codex;
[3] OECD principles of corporate governance; European corporate governance framework;
[4] Corporate governance in the financial industry.
Optional contents can include:
[5] Comparison of the Austrian Corporate Governance Codex to other national codices, e.g. to the Swiss Code of Best Practices.

This course may be taught in English.

Learning outcomes

Successful participants in this module understand the importance of ethically, socially and environmentally responsible conduct of business. In particular, they possess comprehensive knowledge of the corporate governance standards as established in the Austrian market.

Post completion of this module, students show competence in business ethics and CSR, which can be applied in practice when defining business processes, evaluating business models and dealing with customers.
