Chemistry and stoichiometry
Integrated course, 5.00 ECTS
Course content
Fundamentals of general and inorganic chemistry including stoichiometry (structure of matter, chemical compounds, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, states of matter, solutions, oxidation and reduction); chemical reactions (general process, reaction types, description by formulae, stoichiometric calculations); chemistry of aqueous solutions (solubility and solvents), electrolytes and tonicity of solutions; organic chemistry (glossary and stereochemistry, classes of compounds, structure of important classes of natural matter).
Learning outcomes
The students know the fundamentals of general and inorganic chemistry including stoichiometry (structure of matter, chemical compounds, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, states of matter, solutions, oxidation and reduction); chemical reactions (general process, reaction types, description by formulae, stoichiometric calculations); chemistry of aqueous solutions (solubility and solvents), electrolytes and tonicity of solutions; organic chemistry (glossary and stereochemistry, classes of compounds, structure of important classes of natural matter).
