Analytic immunohaematology

Integrated course, 2.00 ECTS


Course content

Pre-analysis; areas and possibilities of application of immunohaematological examinations; theoretical foundations of different methods of detection: agglutination tests, supplement tests, Coombs tests, molecular biological and other immunological methods; possible manual and automated procedures and sources of errors; blood group determination, search for antibodies and antibody differentiation, pretransfusional compatibility testing; testing guidelines and directives, quality management, documentation, validation and interpretation of the results.

Learning outcomes

Based on the foundations of immunology the students acquire immunohaematological concepts and definitions relevant to practice. They can describe and apply methods and procedures for the production of quality-assured immunohaematological findings properly. The students carry out immunohaematological detection methods in accordance with the guidelines. They can interpret immunohaematological findings and can select subsequent investigations correctly.
