Biomedical Science

Pathobiochemistry/Pathophysiology

Lecture, 3.00 ECTS

Course content

Changes of biochemical processes in the human body during illness; correlation between biochemistry and pathology.Connections between biochemistry, pathology and pathobiochemistry. Disturbances of the immunhaematopoetic system, exogenous disturbances of homoesotasis, disturbances in the heart circulation system, in the acid base balance, digestive system, in the endocrine system (in particular diabetes mellitus), the movement organs and supporting organs and the nervous system and the senses.

Learning outcomes

The students have knowledge of biochemistry which they can use to the understand pathology and physiology. The students are able to describe and explain pathophsyiological processes in the human body.
