Hospital infection control and environmental protection

Course content

Application in food safety, environmental hygiene, hospital infection control, veterinary medicine, specific legal foundations, measures of hygiene and methods of investigation, quality assurance systems, monitoring programmes.

Learning outcomes

The students have a sound knowledge of clinically relevant infection causing bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. They know selected methods of hospital and food hygiene and can apply specific hygiene measures. They carry out tests in the medical microbiological analysis process, can choose suitable differentiation methods for selected pathogens, explain and interpret the results of analysis. The students are able to apply special measures of quality assurance in microbiological diagnostics.
