Course content

The students consolidate their knowledge in the area of ??metabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, etc. and nephrology as well as in the areas of consulting skills and communication. Therefore, they train nutrition counseling with patients during several counseling settings and learn how to meaningfully plan and carry out nutrition consultation.

Learning outcomes

Students can outline the course and phases of a dietetic process and learn to consider the individual needs of each patient. Then they carry out the dietetic process in practice. This is done after a detailed dietary history, dietary diagnosis and definition of the treatment goal, the planning of nutritional therapy and intervention. The students can write the dietetic process and are able to derive the resulting, job-specific documentation.

Assessment methods and criteria

- 70 % performing two nutritional consultations

- 10 % answer to a special dietary question

- 20 % writing a dietetic process
