Course content

The course "sports nutrition 1 – elective class" sees itself as a deepening of the course "Sports nutrition" and varies from semester to semester due to current events or questions arising at our institute or our sports science laboratory. In this semester, the contents focus on the needs and composition of an "athlete's plate". In the winter semester, a detailed inventory and needs analysis will be carried out. For this purpose, quality criteria will be researched for various quality seals in the gastronomy sector, including whether there are comparative awards in the sports nutrition sector abroad. On the basis of interviews with decision-makers, the concrete needs and interests of an athlete are to be determined.

Learning outcomes

The students once again deal with supplements in sport. They research the topic "Sports nutrition in the gastronomy sector" and deepen their knowledge by systematic searching, develop an interview guideline, then hold discussions with decision-makers and develop a needs analysis for the group of "athletes" in the gastronomy sector. The overriding idea is to offer a meal on the menu that corresponds to the recommendations of "recovery" after sports.

The results of the individual groups will be presented, prepared as a text and discussed in plenary. Relevant to the examination are precision, creative ideas for solutions and evidence-based recommendations.
