As a forward-looking institute, we see it as our responsibility to actively live and promote internationality. We see international cooperation not only as an opportunity, but also as an expression of a value-based attitude: openness, global responsibility and intercultural sensitivity are key competencies in the healthcare of tomorrow.
\nOur students and teachers travel all over the world: joint teaching and projects with partners within and outside Europe promote international cooperation – including with our partner universities. In the process, our students not only strengthen their language skills, but also their intercultural and global awareness. International cooperation allows us to observe global developments in the field of dietetics, thereby strengthening the quality of teaching and research in Austria. In this way, we train our students to become globally minded professionals.
\nA stay abroad broadens professional and personal horizons. The focus is on intercultural learning, the development of foreign language skills and international networking. In addition, experience abroad adds value to your CV.

Our students and lecturers get to all corners of the world. Sharing teaching and projects with partners within and beyond Europe encourages international cooperation, especially with our partner universities. This contact helps to promote language skills and (inter)cultural and global consciousness among our students.<\/p>\n

The internationalisation of the Institute of Dietetics and Nutrition also benefits the students who decide to complete their whole course of study at FH JOANNEUM. Our international cooperation enables us to keep up with global developments in the discipline of dietetics and thus enhances the quality of our teaching and research in Austria. We train our students to be global professionals.<\/p>\n

The semester abroad extends the students’ professional and personal horizons. Intercultural learning is at the core of the period of study abroad, along with the improvement of language skills and the development of personal contacts. A spell in another country is also a useful addition to our our students’ CVs.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Semester abroad<\/h3>\n

A semester abroad is possible in the 5th semester. The Institute of Dietetics cooperates with European and non-European partner universities.
\nPlanning takes place in advance together with the degree programme and the Office for International Relations. Students draw up a learning agreement that lists the courses to be recognised. We remain in regular contact during the stay to provide support with technical or administrative issues. Contact persons are also available at the host universities. After their return, students share their experiences in a questionnaire, which also benefits future outgoing students.<\/p>\n

Internships abroad<\/h3>\n

In principle, students have the opportunity to complete their internships abroad from the 4th semester onwards, provided they meet the general requirements. An internship funded by Erasmus+ must last at least two months. The internship in the 4th semester is explicitly available for this purpose. Alternatively, students can also complete a graduate internship within one year of graduation. The search for a suitable internship position is carried out independently, but is supported by the international coordination of the programme. We also maintain close contact with our students during the internship so that we can act quickly if necessary.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Short-term mobility<\/h3>\n

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) are innovative exchange formats within the framework of Erasmus+: they combine a short period of physical mobility (usually 5 days) with a virtual preparation or follow-up phase. At the Institute of Dietetics and Nutrition, the elective subject ‘Interdisciplinary Perspectives’ in the 6th semester is organised as a BIP.
\nSummer and winter schools also count as short-term mobility programmes. They usually last one to several weeks and offer students the opportunity to further their education on specific topics (e.g. sports nutrition) at a partner university. These formats are not usually funded.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
