Cultural Diversity at FH JOANNEUM

Course content

Within our project Cultural Diversity at FH JOANNEUM in the course Austrian Culture and Traditions Austrian students at FH JOANNEUM Kapfenberg present the many diverse aspects of Austria in order to raise awareness about their country among international students on campus. The presentations will be followed by a cross-cultural discussion.

Learning outcomes

International students are given insights into Austrian culture, traditions and customs in order to gain a deeper understanding of cultural similarities and differences. The course is also designed to encourage cross-cultural communication and promote awareness of cultural issues.

Mode of delivery

Students who wish to take the “Austrian Culture & Traditions” course are required to attend at least 80% of the presentations (4 out of 5 presentations). An accompanying Moodle course will be offered, with follow-up tasks on each presentation and exercises on intercultural reflection. Austrian students will write a reflection report on the entire lecture series, with a special focus on cross-cultural aspects. The final certificate for this course can also be used for the Intercultural Skills Certificate.
