Tableware | A look over the edge of the plate and beyond

This thesis describes the progress from a merely representative object, used by aristocrats in the 16th century to show off their wealth, to today’s mass‒produced item. In this thesis special attention is paid to the ma- terials, as well as the accompanying external design possibilities. The current tableware trends, which are influenced by people’s continu- ously changing lifestyles and eating habits, are also analyzed in this thesis. Last but not least the author describes the development process, from the idea to the completion of such a table- ware product, by means of a practical workpiece.
