A country saddles up – and JPR is there!

Mobility Supplement

STEIERMARK GO! RADMOBIL geht in die zweite Runde 1

28 students, five days in the editorial office of the Kleine Zeitung, a joint project - in the summer semester 2020, the students of the year JPR19 of Journalism and Public Relations (PR) produced the mobility supplement "Ein Land sattelt um" (A country saddles up) as part of the "Steiermark Radmobil" initiative.

The 24 pages are all about bicycles and green mobility. The focus is on innovative Styrian cycling projects that have been realised in recent years. In addition, international mobility models are presented, which provide food for thought for new transport concepts in Austria. The aim of the supplement of 19 September 2020 is to motivate the Styrian population to switch to the bicycle and reduce their ecological footprint.

In the winter semester of 2019/20, the students already started to look for topics in the PR project "Styria Radmobil" in cooperation with the Province of Styria. In the course PR Lab: Creation and Project Management by Gudrun Reimerth and Wolfgang Kühnelt, the students were encouraged to rethink their own mobility behaviour. As the next step towards a sustainable future, the prospective journalists and PR experts used their time in the home office to write texts for the mobility supplement.

Finding ideas, researching topics, conducting interviews and developing exciting stories out of them - that's how diverse the editorial project is, which was developed in cooperation with the province of Styria and the Kleine Zeitung. Eight students were also able to experience the process first hand in the editorial office of the Kleine Zeitung in the Styria Media Center and help with the finalisation of the supplement.

Leaf through the mobility supplement, filled with exciting cycling facts, innovative Styrian traffic concepts and the legal 1x1 of cycling! Also take the quiz on the last page and find out how sustainable you are on the road!
