Before applying for an exchange semester at FH JOANNEUM, you should clarify whether:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FH JOANNEUM is a partner institution of your university and there is an exchange agreement with your desired study programme<\/li>\n<li>the courses at FH JOANNEUM will be credited towards your degree<\/li>\n<li>your home university participates in ECTS and you can take suitable courses at FH JOANNEUM that meet the ECTS requirements of your home university if you come from a European university<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Language requirements<\/h5>\n<p>Most study programmes at FH JOANNEUM are taught in German. If taking out insurance in your home country, you must prove that the amount of medical costs covered by the contract is <strong>at least EUR 100,000<\/strong> and that <strong>bills exceeding EUR 1,000 will be paid directly<\/strong> to the relevant hospital or doctor.<\/p>\n<p>Our <strong>recommendation for exchange students: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FeelSafe.at<\/strong><br \/>\nWith FeelSafe you can fulfill the legal requirements in the quickest, easiest, most convenient and most affordable way. You can choose from the travel insurance for the C-Visa for up to 90 days stay or the long-term insurance for the D-Visa and Residence Permit. FeelSafe is 100% accepted by the government for your stay in Austria.<\/p>\n<p>With FeelSafe you are fully privately insured \u2013 meaning you have access to all doctors (incl. private doctors) and some extra coverage. Also, you do not need any paperwork, you can buy it completely online in 5 mins, everything is in English (including the contract) and you can ask any specific questions you might have in their online chat. You can use the search engine of the Austrian Medical Association to find a doctor who speaks your language. If you have feelsafe-insurance, you can find a list of all doctors who directly bill the insurance provider here. This way you don\u2019t have to prepay the doctor and need no refund process.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, upon arrival you can get additional insurance with the <strong>\u00d6sterreichische Gesundheitskasse (\u00d6GK).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note, that we can only offer help with these recommended options. If you have sufficient financial means to finance your stay in Austria and valid health insurance covering all the necessary costs, you only need a valid travel document (passport or ID card) in order to enter and reside in Austria. It is not possible to apply for or renew your visa in Austria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nationals of non-EU\/EEA countries studying in Austria for more than six months<\/strong>\u00a0must file an application for a\u00a0<strong>residence permit<\/strong>. If you are entitled to enter Austria without a visa you can file this application in Austria. If you are not entitled to enter Austria without a visa the application will be processed by the Austrian representative authority in your home country. Take your current registration form (Meldezettel) to the relevant registration office and cancel your registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cancel your health insurance:<\/strong> Please make sure you cancel \/ de-register from the insurance company. You need to submit the cancellation form from the municipality (Meldezettel) to the insurance company to do so.
