Moreover, the Arctic is warming three times faster than the global average, which makes research and field measurements particularly valuable as climate indicators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The JOANNEUM Arctic Expedition Team brings together students and faculty members from various disciplines to develop new use cases and technical prototypes. The goal is to support the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ku.dk\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Copenhagen&rsquo;s<\/a> research stations and the newly established <a href=\"https:\/\/sermilik-station.uni-graz.at\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Austrian Polar Research Statio<\/a>n of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-graz.at\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Graz<\/a> in the areas of automation and digitalization, enabling high-resolution and year-round field measurements in the Arctic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/p><h3 class=\"MsoNormal\">Project Objectives<\/h3>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The goal of the JOANNEUM Arctic Expedition Team (AET) is to train the next generation of Arctic experts. All team members are to gain a comprehensive understanding of technologies and research topics relevant to the Arctic in order &nbsp;to be prepared to independently lead future Arctic expeditions themselves. The expedition is organized and led by the team and actively supported in every phase of the expedition and provide on-site guidance in Greenland by the AET leads, <a   <h3>The JOANNEUM Arctic Expedition Team 2025<\/h3>\n<p>From over 100 applicants, the members for the AET 2025 were selected in the fall of 2024. A total of 10 students and 6 faculty members (from both FH JOANNEUM and the University of Graz) are part of the team that will travel to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sermilik-station.uni-graz.at\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sermilik Research Station<\/a> in East Greenland in August 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The summer semester of 2025 is dedicated to preparing for the expedition. As part of the course Arctic Technology, the planning and organization of the trip, as well as the preparation of the specific use cases to be researched during the expedition, are carried out. The use cases were submitted by the students during the application process and are now being further developed within the team. In addition, team members are trained in Arctic-relevant topics such as Arctic Technology, Arctic Safety, and Arctic Geophysics.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The following topics will be conditions for drone deployments in Arctic environments<\/li>\n<li>Meltwater channel analysis on glacier surfaces<\/li>\n<li>Data management for interdisciplinary expeditions<\/li>\n<li>Iceberg
