Thermal Energy Technology
Integrated course, 4.00 ECTS
Course content
After a brief recap of mathematical and thermodynamic basics, this integrated course explains the cycle processes of thermal energy engineering (Rankine, Brayton, Otto, Diesel etc.), followed by a description of the most common technological components. In addition to power generation, the course also presents technologies for the supply and distribution of heat (combined heat and power, boiler technology, district heating). A field trip gives students an insight into practical application.
Learning outcomes
Module ETE3 provides sound knowledge of renewable energy technologies and still widespread conventional thermal energy technologies. Students are enabled to understand and assess the individual technologies, to consider their advantages and disadvantages and to select the best suitable technology for the application at hand.
