Course content

• Introduction, basic concepts and structure of modern industrial robot systems
• Kinematic structure, design, drive and control systems of modern industrial robots
• Properties of modern industrial robot systems, their possibilities and limitations
• Comparison of conventional robot systems and collaborative robot systems for tasks in production and assembly
• Application planning of modern industrial robot systems and necessary infrastructural framework conditions
• Evaluation and selection of modern robot systems considering product quality, lot size and company structure
• Process simulation tools for digital resource planning and off-line programming of industrial robots
• Megatrends future development of robotics

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students are able to:

• Characterize the function and structure of modern robotic and handling systems
• Explain the kinematic structure, design, drive and control systems of modern industrial robots
• Design solutions for the use of conventional robot systems and collaborative robot systems for tasks in production and assembly
• Design layouts for the use of modern industrial robotic systems considering the necessary manufacturing infrastructure
• Understand and apply process simulation tools for digital resource planning and off-line programming of industrial robots
