Course content

The Legal System of Austria / Stufenbau / Public Law and Private Law, Austria and the EU
Industrial Law
• Structure of labor law, classification, relationship of sources of law
• Individual employment law and basic concepts of social insurance
• Employee protection - working time protection
• Collective labor law - labor constitution and collective means of policy
• Work Council
Contract law
• Legal capacity, legal studies
• Selected contract types (purchase contract, work contract)
• AGB, KSchG, ÖNORMEN, performance disruptions, damage and liability, warranty, product liability

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students are able to:

• Explain the Austrian legal system and its classification
• Differentiate between issues of public law and private law issues
• Carry out simple, targeted legal research successfully
• Solve simple legal questions of employment and contract law independently
• Assess when it is necessary or advisable to obtain expert, legal advice
