Factory Planning and Simulation

Course content
• Introduction, basic concepts and layouts of modern production facilities
• Planning categories and principles, planning phases within factory planning projects
• Evaluation and selection of production facilities considering product quality, batch size and company structure
• Methods of optimizing layout, material and information flow of modern production plants
• Concepts and systems for digital factory planning
• Process simulation tools for digital factory planning
• Development of an application scenario based on industrial requirements
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students are able to:
• Use factory planning methods efficiently in the context of company tasks
• Develop concepts for future factories and expansion activities
• Identify expectations of stakeholders involved in logistics and manufacturing processes and derive action steps
• Analyze networked material flows of existing factories and develop an optimized overall layout concepts
• Develop optimal layouts for prospective production processes
• Understand and apply process simulation tools for digital factory planning
