Factory Planning Project

Course content

• Planning categories and principles, planning phases within factory planning projects
• Evaluation and selection of production facilities taking into account product quality, batch size and company structure
• Methods for optimizing layout, material and information flow of modern production plants
• Use of tools for digital factory planning
• Use of process simulation tools for digital factory planning
• Development of a specific application scenario based on a specific task

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students are able to:

• Apply methods for layout and process planning of production processes efficiently in the context of a specific task
• Develop concepts for process-optimized factories
• Incorporate expectations of stakeholders, involved in logistics and manufacturing processes, into one’s own planning activities
• Analyze networked material flows at existing factories and develop an optimized concept of it
• Plan and optimize production layouts based on a previous, individually established analysis of production processes
• Understand the relationships of factory planning with the concepts of Industry 4.0 and consider them in factory planning concepts
• Use process simulation tools efficiently for digital factory planning
