Course content
• Fundamentals of digitization in companies with a focus on production
• Basics of vertical data integration
• Interfaces to customers and suppliers
• Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
• Horizontal data integration on the shop floor
• Data transmission, networking of production systems
• Safety and security of IT on the shop floor
• Control, monitoring and data integration of automation systems
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the students are able to:
• Describe methods of digitization at a company level and explain the processes used
• Assess and understand influences of information and data exchange on product development and production
• Describe information and data interfaces in customer and supplier relationships
• Understand technological aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and to assess advantages and disadvantages
• Present concrete examples of data transmission and networking of production systems and apply them to production processes
• Understand IT security topics on the shop floor level and design concepts for concrete questions
