• PLM as a strategic approach and PDM as a tool
• PLM solutions as the backbone of virtual product development
• Organizational and methodological prerequisites for the introduction and application of PLM concepts
• Components and core features of PLM solutions
• Integration of different product data and task distribution between different product data management applications
• Technical infrastructure and system functions of PLM solutions
• Economic considerations of PLM solutions
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students are able to:
• Explain methods of product data management and product lifecycle management using tangible practical examples
• Characterize different views of the product lifecycle and necessary measures for data and process integration
• Analyze and evaluate organizational and methodological prerequisites for the introduction and application of PLM concepts
• Demonstrate the economic benefits of using PLM concepts
• Identify approaches for the integration of different product data within IT systems and design solutions for PDM or PLM systems
• Prepare the implementation of PLM solutions in enterprises and successfully organize their introduction
