Product Requirements Engineering
Integrated course, 2.00 ECTS
Course content
• Knowledge about definitions and activities in requirements engineering and management
• Methods for collecting, analyzing and specifying customer-specific requirements in the context of product development
• Tools for linking the requirements/criteria of different development areas such as mechanical, electrical and/or electronic system components with software-specific elements
• Methods of managing data and information about defined product requirements throughout the development cycle
• Fundamentals of product-specific standards, regulations or legal requirements which have to be considered during product development processes
• Methods for documentation and traceability of the requirements criteria defined in the product development process
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students are able to:
• Explain methods of requirements engineering and management and illustrate them with practical examples
• Describe cross-connections between different methods and measures of requirements engineering and use them to derive applications in the product development process
• Actively implement requirements engineering concepts as part of the product development process
• Present methods for the recording and specification of product properties (function, quality, design, costs) and apply them to concrete tasks
• Apply requirements engineering tools to link different product structures (hardware and software elements) to enable production cost optimization and quality improvement in the product development process
