Course content

• Methodical integration of simulation tools in the production process
• Challenges for the use of simulation tools in the production process
• Typical methods and systems for the simulation of production processes and logistics processes
• Possibilities and limitations of the use of simulation tools in the production process
• Timing conditions and bottlenecks for the implementation of simulation projects in the production process
• Interaction between simulation and shop floor activities

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students are able to:

• Describe the physical and mathematical model fundamentals of simulation tools in production
• Explain the advantages and disadvantages of simulation tools in production and assess any limitations of the different methods
• Present methodological approaches to the use of DiFa, CAPP and production CAx tools in manufacturing processes
• Plan the use of CAx tools in the production process as needed
• Describe the interaction between simulation and shop floor activity taking into account the respective framework conditions
