Course content

ESAP: understanding subject-specific literature and lectures; formulating questions (asking for clarification, responding to clarification); making effective contributions to lectures/seminars.
This course is also closely linked to the first-year engineering project and covers the following topics:
- Engineering design process and associated language
- Project management and associated language
- Engineering project documentation
- Customer meetings
- Comparing automotive systems and engineering solutions
- Justifying engineering decisions

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, students are equipped to:
-Contribute effectively to subject-specific lectures in English
-Describe the phases of the engineering design process
-Describe and discuss project management approaches
-Compile project-related documentation (project handbook, system requirements specifications, final project reports)
-Organize and participate effectively in customer meetings
-Compare and contrast advanced engineering solutions
-Justify engineering decisions
