In doing so, they not only deepen their knowledge, but also acquire <strong>additional know-how<\/strong>, <strong>qualifications<\/strong>, <strong>skills<\/strong> and <strong>abilities<\/strong>. Accordingly, the <strong>practical relevance<\/strong> takes a <strong>high priority<\/strong> at our degree programme.  <\/p>\n<p>Students gain in-depth knowledge in any area of automotive engineering. This enables them to apply the following competencies:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have a better overview of interrelationships,  <\/li>\n<li>structure questions in automotive engineering according to technical-scientific principles as well as specify them more precisely,  <\/li>\n<li>formulate these questions as a problem and  <\/li>\n<li>solve them appropriately under business management conditions.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This also includes aspects of <strong>business management<\/strong> and <strong>organization<\/strong>. Within one year, our students not only have to <strong>design<\/strong> but also <strong>construct and build<\/strong> a <strong>formula racing car according to given regulations<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, the car has to pass various driving tests and also has to convince off the track in disciplines such as business presentation or the cost report, in which other degree programmes of FH JOANNEUM also participate. Since this is also an important topic for our students, we developed and built our own electric car as part of several student papers and projects based on a <strong>prototype from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magna.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Magna<\/a><\/strong>. The technical details are composed as follows:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>designed as a city car,  <\/li>\n<li>two asynchronous machines with 48 volts,  <\/li>\n<li>a power of 30 kilowatts and  <\/li>\n<li>41 hp.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So far, numerous issues have been worked on, such as the distribution of the tractive force so that smaller curve radiuses can be driven. Consisting of  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>carbon,  <\/li>\n<li>aramid,  <\/li>\n<li>aluminum and  <\/li>\n<li>steel  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>it weighs only <strong>4.96 kilograms<\/strong>. In comparison, conventional wheelchairs, such as those used in hospitals, usually weigh 20 kilograms.
