Statistics and Empirical Research

Course content

After this course, students will understand the basics of statistics and will know which statistical tests are relevant to health issues. They will be able to master key statistics concepts, gain an understanding of statistical tests as well as the critical interpretation of their results with a view to health issues and will be able to use the SPSS software for statistical analyses.

• Get to know basic statistics
• Develop understanding of the quantitative research process and quantitative research designs
• Use of descriptive statistics (location and spread parameters)
• Basic understanding of inference statistics
• Use of the statistical software SPSS
• Independent data evaluation and analysis
• Checking the requirements of statistical analysis methods
