What is Industrial Design?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Design is not only the shape but also the intelligence of things. Industrial Design focuses on the design of products and processes. Industrial designers develop intelligent objects and user experiences which factor in cultural, social and ecological developments. We focus on sustainability and socially-relevant issues. <\/p>\n

The subjects we are dealing with include demographic change, globalisation and the relocation of production to low-wage countries, the digitalisation of products and production processes, Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and the new philosophy and value system of the open source generation. It is, above all, the complexity of social and ecological change that forces designers to engage in interactive thinking, critical reflection, and bold interaction. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Alongside teaching design principles as well as graphical and technical skills, the degree programme is centred on developing students’ problem-solving ability. You’ll also learn about the principles of science and engineering as well as completing an internship semester away from the university. <\/p>\n

Presentation techniques and construction<\/h4>\n

Another important element of the degree programme is studying various presentation techniques. Here you’ll get plenty of practice sketching objects quickly and accurately by hand. However the curriculum also covers the presentation of objects through computer-generated 2D and 3D graphics. You’ll also acquire the comprehensive technical knowledge needed to build and manufacture your designs. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n
