• Matrix calculation
• Linear optimisation
• Regression and correlation
• Statistical methods for data analysis (PCA, Clustering)
• Modelling and optimizing simple industrial processes (exact and heuristic methods, simulations)

Learning outcomes

The students are able to
• analyse implementation options, methods, solutions and strategies from applied mathematics
• solve mathematical problems in a technical and economic context
• present and interpret solutions
• apply the methods of logic, analysis, algebra, geometry, statistics and optimization.
• map and optimize industrial processes.
• apply the principles of exact solutions, heuristics and simulations.
• recognise mathematics as a modernday key technology.
• use the computer programmes Matlab and R to solve complex mathematical problems
