Course content

• Components of a direct-current circuit
• Simple semi-conductors (diodes, transistors…) and their applications
• generation and curve form of alternating current
• AC Units and their behaviour (phase delay)
• Three-phase currents and complex nature of performance in a three-phase system
• Star and delta circuits, their performance, currents and performance measurements in delta circuits.
• Power measurement in three-phase circuits
• Analogue technology
- Operational amplifier switches
• Digital technology
- Decoders
- Meters
• Micro-processors
• IC production

Learning outcomes

The students are able to
• apply a general knowledge of electric circuits, direct and alternating currents.
• develop the capacity to understand and discuss basic terminology.
• independently solve stationary direct and alternating current grid calculations.
• apply the principle of power and energy transfer in electrical engineering.
• apply the basic principles of electrical engineering
• apply the functionality of switch elements
• give an overview of the electronics industry
• gain a basic knowledge for more advanced, practically oriented courses such as automation technology
• grasp the significance of electrical engineering and electronics in industrial plants.
