Course content

• Professional profile of ERP solutions providers: there is a general understanding of the positionins of the Industrial Management education in the field of ERP.
• Business information systems: knowledge of relevant information systems in an industrial company - ability to distinguish between systems.
• Enterprise Resource Planning systems: technology - understand the idea of integrated information processing (use the data base that is consistent with business principles).
• ERP systems (business organisation): ability to explain how an ERP system is structured by means of SAP ERP as an example.
• Accounting in SAP: overview of the various aspects of accounting. Ability to differentiate between internal and external accounting.
• Logistics in SAP ERP: overview of modules and core concepts of logistics in ERP systems.
• ability to explain, depict and comprehend the relevant core data, functionalities and business processes, as well as integrational relationships from the perspective of logistics modules (MM/PP/SD)
• conduct and document a simple, integrated logistical process (from the customer's order to the feedback in production) in an ERP system
• conduct a complex order-to-cash process integrating all logistical modules - incl. accounting and management accounting. This also includes integrated relationships and all partial processes.

Learning outcomes

The students are able to
• understand and comprehend the concept of Enterprise-Resource-Planning (ERP) systems.
• develop understanding for process-driven integrated aspects of ERP systems in an industrial environment.
• devis ERP projects and recognise critical success factors.
• distinguish between technical and business architecture of ERP systems.
• gain an overview of the market for ERP providers and know-how concerning aspects of selecting ERP systems and implementation partners.
• apply and devise core application modules for industrial enterprises.
• depict the core processes of an industrial enterprise independently in an ERP system. The focus is on integrating the materials and value flows in an enterprise.
• apply the accounting and logistics modules of state-of-the-art ERP systems such as SAP.
• devise and conduct data migration procedures.
• apply ERP standard reporting tools and distinguish them from data warehouses/business intelligence
