Course content

The course teaches statistical basics as the foundation for data processing and analysis at higher education level, incl. Applications based on case studies from engineering and business administration.
• Descriptive Statistics
• Basics of Probability Theory
• Evaluating statistics
• Confidence intervals
• Case studies from engineering and business administration, to be solved manually and with R.

Learning outcomes

The students are able to:
• show fields of application, methods and problem solving strategies in the field of applied mathematics (analysis, structured thought processes, arguments and proofs).
• solve mathematical assignments from technical and economic problems
• interpret solutions
• apply logic, analysis, algebra, geometry and statistics
• recognise mathematics and a contemporary key competence and technology
