{"id":111,"date":"2026-08-20T14:05:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T12:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fh-joanneum.at\/informatik\/berufsbegleitend\/?page_id=111"},"modified":"2026-08-20T14:11:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T12:11:12","slug":"graduation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fh-joanneum.at\/informatik\/berufsbegleitend\/en\/my-studies\/graduation\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"\" class=\"wp-block-text-content margin-bottom-normal\">\n    <div class=\"container-lg\">\n        <div class=\"row\">\n            <div class=\"col\">\n                <h3>Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>To graduate from the Computer Science degree programme, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>successfully complete all the classes<\/li>\n<li>produce a Bachelor&rsquo;s thesis which must receive a pass mark<\/li>\n<li>pass the Bachelor&rsquo;s examination<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your title on graduation will be &ldquo;Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc)&ldquo;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Bachelor&rsquo;s thesis<\/h4>\n<p>Our students write their Bachelor&rsquo;s theses in the course of their studies in the fifth semester. In this way they learn how to employ scientific methods and sources. The subject of the thesis can be agreed in cooperation with a company, or be suggested by the student or the degree programme. The thesis addresses a specific problem and develop solutions which are convincingly presented in English.<\/p>\n<p>The Bachslor&rsquo;s thesis is supervised by lecturers at the Institute.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Bachelor&rsquo;s examination<\/h4>\n<p>Examinations are held three times a year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Early date: end of 6th semester, usually at the beginning of July<\/li>\n<li>Main date: before the start of the winter semester, usually in October<\/li>\n<li>Late date: in January of the following year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The examination is taken before a board and involves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Presenting the Bachelor&rsquo;s thesis in English<\/li>\n<li>Discussing the Bachelor&rsquo;s thesis in German<\/li>\n<li>Examination of a further subject area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>After graduation<\/h3>\n<p>Our graduates move within the world of bits and bytes. To further expand and specialise their knowledge, options such as the part-time Master&rsquo;s degree programmes offered by the Institute of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fh-joanneum.at\/en\/institute\/computer-science-and-artificial-intelligence\/\">Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence<\/a> at FH JOANNEUM are available. It is also possible to pursue further study at another university.
