Course content

Basic knowledge of academic writing:
The focus is on working steps for writing a scientific final paper (thesis).
- Literature search: acquiring, inspection, analysis and preparation of (scientific) literature.
Selective search in web portals, catalogues of libraries, the web
- Citation and bibliographies
- Arranging of a timetable (time management, problem of procrastination)
- Reading of texts: understanding of the content, evaluating the usefulness, analyzing its significance
- critical look on texts
- Narrowing of a broad subject to a feasible topic
- Focusing on a research question
- Structure of a (scientific) paper
- Writing of a (scientific) paper (including citation)
- Plagiarism

Learning outcomes

Basic knowledge of various tools and working techniques in academic writing.
Ability to write a Bachelor-thesis.
