Requirements

To graduate from your degree programme, you must:

  • successfully complete all the classes
  • produce a Master’s thesis, which must be approved
  • pass the Master’s examination

Your title on graduation will be “DiplomingeneurIn”.

Master’s thesis

The Master’s thesis can be produced in cooperation with a company and is usually started in the third semester and completed in the fourth semester. This process is accompanied by a dedicated course amounting to 20 ECTS credits where students are offered help in terms of thematic content and methodology. Classes such as Scientific Basics, Professional Writing, English for Academic Purposes and Effective Scientific Writing help students prepare to write their thesis.

Master’s examination

Students take the final examination at the end of the fourth semester after their thesis has been approved and on successfully completing all the courses.

The examination is an oral exam before an examination board made up of a chairperson (usually the head of degree programme), the thesis supervisor and an English lecturer, as the thesis must be presented and defended in English. Examination boards consist of a minimum of three examiners with a maximum of four.

After graduation

With the knowledge and skills acquired in the programme, graduates are able to embark on careers straight away and are in great demand in many companies in today’s interconnected globalised world. They can also find employment in the university and administrative sector.

Many of our graduates also take the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree at a business university or a university of technology with an IT focus.
