Learning outcomes

The students are able to
• explain the functions of a production planning and control system.
• explain the main functions and implementation options of an MES system to fine-tune and control a production unit.
• clarify the concept and application fields of Advanced Planning Systems (APS, APO).
• solve problems in a manufcaturing company
• basically apply MES
• clearly define the fundamental differences between ERP and MES/APS systems in production planning
• explain the demands on shop-floor IT systems
• apply plant simulation software for manufacturing based on a practical example.
• devise application fields and advantages of additive manufacturing.
• derive the limitations of Smart Production, based on examples.
• evaluate the degree of integration of lean business processes for Smart Production in an enterprise.
