Foreign Trade

Course content

In this course students become acquainted with foreign trade policy, international trade organisations, types of foreign trade and how to perform transactions in foreign trade including risk evaluation. Austria´s foreign trade as well as Austria´s foreign trade promotion organisation, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, which is part of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKO), will be explained in detail. In order to provide hands on experience to the students, an excursion will be carried out to InternationalisierungsCenter Steiermark.

Learning outcomes

Students will be taught basic elements of foreign trade with macro and micro perspectives. In order to enable students to carry out their own research students will be provided information about useful websites and other sources. Special emphasis will be placed on support mechanisms for foreign trade activities provided by Austria´s Economic Chamber (WKO), on tasks of international trade organisations and on performing foreign trade transactions including risk evaluation.
