Statics
Integrated course, 3.00 ECTS
Course content
• Statics of rigid bodies / basic concepts and axioms
• Equilibrium in statics
• Friction
• Determining the center of gravity of lines and surfaces
• The equilibrium conditions for the planar force system
• Statics of plane structures
• Statics of plane trusses
• Internal forces and moments in structures
Learning outcomes
Statics:
After completing the course, students should have understood the basics of statics and their basic methods of calculation in order to be well prepared for further tasks, especially those of structural mechanics and dynamics.
Material Science:
Students have aquired relevant knowledge about the atomic and molecular structure, properties and origin of materials. They can assess the applicability of the materials discussed and know procedures to verify the expected properties.
Engineering Drawings:
After completing the course students should be able to read and understand engineering drawings. They should be able to pass on their own ideas and thoughts with technical freehand sketches to other engineers. They should acquire knowledge about the most important standards and standardization system.
