Course content

• Chemistry of main-group elements, chemistry of metals
• Chemical equilibrium, mass action law, acid / base definitions
• Reduction and oxidation: Fundamentals, redox reactions, electrochemistry, standard potentials and voltage series, electrolysis, galvanic elements, corrosion
• Reactions and reaction kinetics, reaction types
• Fundamentals of catalytic reaction processes
• Introduction to the chemical analysis of inorganic substances

Learning outcomes

The students know the industrially relevant chemical principles and processes and their significance in the design of process engineering systems. They have acquired skills in handling chemicals and modern laboratory equipment to perform and analyze simple analyzes themselves.
