Introduction to Enterprise Resource Planning - ERP

Course content

• Typical characteristics of ERP systems
• Design of ERP systems in the technical and business context
• Risk or failure reasons in ERP implementation projects
• The use of ERP systems (SAP) in logistics with a focus on procurement and production

Learning outcomes

The students gain knowledge about PPS in general, different control philosophies, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as conception and implementation strategies. Furthermore, the students get to know and apply a simple process modeling tool. Within a separate course students learn about the basics of ERP systems and have the opportunity to apply the knowledge in IT-lab courses. Additionally students gain a deeper insight into quality management systems and the basics of environmental management.
