  • Represent the company towards customers, partners and investors
  • Financial, time and resource planning
  • (Further) developing the product and company vision

What I love about my job:

  • My colleagues
  • The freedom to decide how and when I want to work
  • Finding a deeper meaning in my work

What I don't like so much about my job:

  • Little spare time
  • Risk and responsibility are high

Important skills in my job:

  • Business and product-specific knowledge
  • Unshakable optimism
  • Leadership talent

My greatest achievement

Seeing the software we spent one year planning and developing actually run on our customer's computer – that really gave me a sense of achievement.

How I found my current job

The product idea was born in my last semester on the Information Management programme. I was lucky to know the right people for building a team. This was followed by a great deal of research and planning until we could finally move ahead and establish the company.

What I learned for this job during my studies

One of the key prerequisites of my job is to keep an overview of all business areas. The all-round approach followed by the Information Management programme was an ideal preparation for this. This is why I have a sound understanding of every technical field, which allows me to plan projects, identify problems and know what is possible. Furthermore, my semester abroad with a focus on Big Data and Machine Learning was an enrichment for me because these thematic areas are very important for us at the moment.

Job prospects in my field

I think the prospects for startups are very good at the moment. All you need is a good idea, the right team and the willingness to take a risk. Austrian start-ups can benefit from a great deal of support and also financial help.

I am:

  • always eager to learn
  • well-organised
  • willing to learn from my mistakes

I'd like to recommend the Information Management programme to anyone who is interested in striking out on their own in the IT sector. After graduating you will have all the necessary technical skills and a fair grasp of the business knowledge you are going to need. I also strongly advise you to do a semester or internship abroad so that you can specialise in an area of interest and develop personally.
