FH JOANNEUM offers the following programme types:

Bachelor’s degree programme

The Bachelor’s degree programme at FH JOANNEUM runs over three years, divided into six semesters. It is the first level of academic degree in the Bachelor-Master system (Bologna Process). Depending on the programme, you can study full-time, part-time, or as a co-op programme. The field of study determines whether you will earn the title of Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). There are no tuition fees.

Admission requirements

You need one of the following entrance qualifications to study for a Bachelor’s degree at FH JOANNEUM:

  • General university entrance qualification (secondary school leaving certificate), or
  • Vocational university entrance qualification or relevant university entrance exam, or
  • Relevant professional qualification with additional examinations, or
  • Completion of the Qualification Course for University Entrance at FH JOANNEUM

Master’s degree programme

A Master’s degree is the second level in the Bachelor-Master system. It allows you to expand and consolidate the knowledge acquired in your Bachelor’s degree, to focus on a specific subject area, or to acquire new specialist knowledge. A Master’s degree also enhances your career prospects. Depending on the degree programme, FH JOANNEUM offers the following organisational forms: full-time, part-time, work-friendly, and as a co-op programme. On average, students at FH JOANNEUM need two years to complete a Master’s degree programme.

Here again, the field of study determines whether you will earn the title of Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Science (MSc). The degree of Diplomingenieur/Diplomingenieurin (DI) is also available in technical fields of study. Completing a Master’s degree programme qualifies you to pursue doctoral studies at another university. There are no tuition fees for a Master’s programme.

Admission requirements

Applicants to a Master’s degree programme must meet the following conditions:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or
  • Equivalent academic qualification in a related field

Master certificate programme

The part-time Master certificate programmes at FH JOANNEUM are perfect for professionals wishing to further their knowledge in their chosen field. These programmes are designed to allow students to study while continuing their current employment. The qualifications gained on a Master certificate programme range from Master of Science (Continuing Education) / MSc (CE) to Master of Arts (Continuing Education) in Social Science / MA (CE) to Executive Master of Business Administration / (EMBA).

After successful completion, these qualifications open up new professional and career perspectives as an expert in your field. In contrast to Master’s degree programmes, there is no funding for places on Master certificate programmes. Consequently, these programmes are financed in part by tuition fees paid by the students. Another difference to a Master’s degree is that completion of a Master certificate programme does not entitle the graduate to pursue a doctoral programme. Whether graduates of certificate programmes are admitted to doctoral studies lies within the discretion of the respective university.

Admission requirements

Most Master certificate programmes require students to have completed a degree with at least 180 ECTS credits on a Bachelor’s or Diploma programme at an Austrian or comparable foreign university or university of applied sciences. Academic certificate programme

Our Academic certificate programmes are more condensed than our Master certificate programmes and focus on specific continuing education goals. After completing the programme, you will be an Academic Expert in the respective field. In all other respects, our Academic certificate programmes are based on the same successful concept as our Master certificate programmes: lecturers from the professional world, current content relevant to business and/or society and science, and modern teaching methods. Students on Academic certificate programmes are charged tuition fees.

Certificate programme

Our Certificate programmes are aimed at experts in their respective fields wishing to continue their professional development for reasons of personal interest or professional necessity. After successful completion, programme participants are awarded a certificate. As with our other programmes, FH JOANNEUM’s offerings reflect current demand. Students on Certificate programmes are charged tuition fees.
