Study of architectur at TUGraz; since 1986 practice as an architect; from 1994-2008 assistant professor and lecturer at the Institu of Building Theory (& Housing) of the Technical University in Graz; since 2003 lecturer at FH JOANNEUM; teaches and researches sustainable building design and ressource-efficient urban development; leads the research focus Architecture and Urban Development at the Institute for Construction Design and Economics; develops and leads multidisciplinary research projects (such as 'ÖKOTOPIA Resource Conservation in Urban Development'); combines research and teaching in sustainable design projects, among others to 'Multimodal Mobility Nodes', 'Shopping Worlds of the Future', Urban Gardening, Walking and Cycling Projects
