In her job in HR, Susanna Mayr resolves conflicts, pushes careers forward and ensures that everyone in the office feels (almost) at home.

🎓What I studied:

💻 My job: HR Business Partner at Andritz AG in Graz, Austria

📭 How to reach me: LinkedIn

In my free time: I prefer to be outside and/or with friends and family.

If I hadn’t studied international management, I would have become a physiotherapist.

This was the coolest internship: my mandatory internship at OMV.

This is where I spent my semester abroad: Copenhagen.

This is how I celebrated my graduation: with the entire program in Croatia for a week.

Tell us what you do without telling us what your job is: I’m the one who resolves conflicts, boosts careers and makes sure that everyone feels (almost) at home in the office.

If my studies were an animal, it would be an octopus because it can do so many different things at once 🐙

This is what you are guaranteed to learn during your studies: Troubleshooting & stress management 😊

The best course was: I definitely remember project management.

I had some difficulties with this course: Accounting

Don’t let yourself be influenced or made to feel insecure by other people or fellow students. Just because someone puts in more time or seems more proactive in classes doesn’t mean you’re worse or less suited!

About my job

In my job, I support managers in all matters relating to employees, support employee development and engage in strategic workforce planning. I am involved in important decisions and actively shape the company’s future. I started during my master’s program with a part-time job as a recruiter in the HR department – the foundation for my current role.

Skills that are particularly helpful for my job include communicating confidently in English in stressful situations, presenting to large groups and managing my time effectively. I appreciate the diversity, working closely with people and being involved in crucial processes. The multitude of complex legal frameworks can sometimes be challenging. For this job, strong communication skills, openness and negotiation skills are essential. One highlight is to accompany the development of employees and to see their long-term satisfaction.

For the future, I follow the motto: don’t plan too much – who knows what’s coming. 😊
