Information pursuant to Art. 13 GDPR regarding data processing within the scope of JOANNEUM ACADEMY

This privacy policy of FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH, Alte Poststraße 149, 8020 Graz, informs you in accordance with Art. 13 GDPR about how we handle your personal data within the scope of our further education programme. The protection of your data is important to us, and we would like to offer you the greatest possible transparency with this information.

1. Registration for further education

1.1 Purpose of data processing

The data is processed for the purpose of handling registrations for further education programmes offered by the JOANNEUM Academy.

1.2 Data categories

The following personal data is processed automatically:

  • First and last name
  • Academic title, if applicable
  • Contact details (email, telephone number, address)
  • Information on desired further education
  • Billing information (e.g., billing address, payment information)
1.3 Legal

Your personal data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR, as it is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures for your registration to any further education and for the fulfillment of the resulting contract.

1.4 Duration of processing

Personal data will be stored for the duration of the further education and in accordance with the statutory retention obligations for financial data for seven years after the end of the calendar year in which the data was collected.

1.5 Recipients

The data will not be passed on to third parties, except to processors necessary for the fulfillment of the contract (e.g., IT service providers, billing centers), external teachers who are in a contractual relationship with FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH, and within the scope of legal obligations (e.g., tax advisors, tax authorities).

2. Processing after registration: Organization and communication

2.1. Purpose of data processing

After completing your registration, we process your personal data to ensure the organizational handling of your further education. This includes, in particular, ongoing communication with you – e. g. , regarding scheduling, course content, participation information, or organizational changes – as well as general support within the scope of the event.

2.2 Data categories

The following data is processed in particular:

  • Contact
  • Details of the booked further education
  • Communication content (e.g., emails, notifications)
2.3 Legal

Processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR, as it is necessary for the fulfillment of the contract regarding your participation in the respective further education.

2.4 Duration

The data will be stored for the duration of the further education and within the scope of the statutory retention obligations.

2.5 Recipients

Your data will not be passed on to third parties, except to processors who are necessary for the fulfillment of the contract (e.g., IT service providers, billing centers), to external teachers who work contractually with FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH, and within the scope of legal obligations.

3. Newsletter dispatch (optional, depending on offer)

3.1 Purpose of data processing

Depending on the further education offer, a newsletter may be sent to inform you about relevant content, additional offers, or organizational changes.

3.2 Data categories
  • Email
  • Name (optional)
  • Affiliation with the further education programme
3.3 Legal

Processing is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Consent is voluntary and can be revoked at any time.

3.4 Revocation of consent

You can revoke your consent to receive the newsletter at any time without giving reasons, e.g. via an unsubscribe link in the newsletter.

3.5 Duration of processing

The data will be stored until you revoke your consent.

4. Rights of data subjects

You have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Right to information about your processed personal data
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure or restriction of processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to withdraw consent (e.g., newsletter)
