Ingo Grasenick, MA MSc

Graduate from Software Design and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

Ingo Grasenick was already working full-time before he decided to come back to FH JOANNEUM for a Bachelor’s and subsequent Master’s degree programme.

🎓What I studied:

💻 My job: Machine Learning Consultant at DCCS IT Business Solutions in Graz, Austria.

📭 How to get in touch: LinkedIn

Me in three emojis: 🙂 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 ⚽️

When I was little I wanted to be an inventor, today I am a machine learning consultant.

If I hadn’t studied data science and artificial intelligence, I would have been… one apprenticeship poorer 🙂

This was the coolest internship: Master’s thesis for FC Red Bull Salzburg

This is where I spent my time after class: usually at home with my family. Sometimes with a stop at the pub.

The best food was at Bitki and my favorite place was the foosball table.

This is how I celebrated my graduation: at the restaurant with family and friends

Tell us what your job is, without telling us what your job is: Solving puzzles

If my studies were a movie, it would be “Good Will Hunting” because you solve problems like the main character in the movie (graph theory).

You are guaranteed to learn this in your studies: Gaining insights from data

The best course was: Multivariate Statistics and Data Mining

I had a bit of a struggle with this course: Management of Relational Databases

If you don’t like math, a lot of the course content may seem a bit dry. But if you embrace it, the theoretical content/foundations are also very exciting.

About my job

Even during my studies, I realised that I wanted to work at the interface between technology and communication. Through a targeted application, I found my way into my current job – an exciting mix of analytical and coordinative tasks.

During my studies, I not only gained a comprehensive overview of the diverse sub-areas of data science and artificial intelligence, but also learnt to understand complex data and develop solutions using analytical methods. The ability to systematically analyse different issues and develop suitable approaches was particularly valuable.

Today, I work on analysing requirements and data and developing algorithms. I work with clients to develop creative solutions – often involving intensive research – and ultimately implement them in code or software. This makes my day-to-day work particularly exciting and varied.
