Sustainable Finance Microlearning with Educational Generative AI
CRYPTOPOLIS: Förderung der Finanz- und Kryptobildung in Sekundarschulen

GenESG is an innovative Erasmus+ project coordinated by FH JOANNEUM (Austria), aiming to transform how sustainable finance is taught and learned in higher education. The project leverages generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to create a new standard in microlearning—one that is engaging, interactive, and deeply rooted in real-world ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) challenges.

Project Objectives

GenESG addresses the urgent need for future-proof financial education that aligns with digital and green transitions. The project aims to:

  • Bridge skill gaps in sustainable finance education by integrating cutting-edge digital tools.
  • Develop microlearning modules powered by generative AI, focusing on ESG principles and financial decision-making.
  • Empower educators through an Immersive Learning Handbook and virtual academy platform.
  • Foster innovation in pedagogy, combining gamified learning, scenario-based training, and AI-generated interactivity.
  • Promote awareness of responsible digital and financial behavior, with strong emphasis on ESG literacy.

  1. Skills Framework: A clear map of digital and ESG skills needed in the finance sector.

  2. Virtual Academy: An online hub for educators and learners, hosting AI-enhanced learning units.

  3. Microlearning Course: Bite-sized modules co-developed with students, using real ESG scenarios and AI guidance.

  4. Immersive Learning Guide: A best-practice handbook on designing digital, AI-supported ESG education.

  5. Sustainability Toolkit: An open-access repository with templates, scenarios, and reusable AI training content.

 

Partnership

The consortium includes 7 partners from Austria, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Poland, and Bulgaria, combining expertise from academia, sustainability consultancy, and educational technology.

Impact

GenESG empowers the next generation of financial professionals to make sustainable, data-driven decisions. It fosters cross-disciplinary learning and supports the twin transition to a green and digital Europe, by embedding AI into responsible finance education.
