What I do:
- I advise companies and communities how they can motivate their employees and residents to choose sustainable mobility options.
- I develop new mobility offers such as car sharing networks and bike sharing.
- I make an important contribution to developing PostAuto into a mobility service provider.
Why I love my job:
I am convinced that chipping away at something wears away the stone and we can make a significant contribution to transforming mobility. I like the Swiss attitude to work: commitment is not something to be ashamed of, it’s really part of the job. I am entrusted with working and communicating across the hierarchical levels.
Important skills in my job:
- Resilience
- Powers of persuasion and the right arguments
- Project organisation and a self-assured manner
My biggest accomplishment so far:
As ‘just’ a part-time employee who ‘only’ works in the region, I was invited to attend the PostAuto management conference in May. Not as a listener but rather as a speaker. I motivated 80 top managers from Switzerland, France and Liechtenstein to stick to the strategic direction of becoming ‘mobility service providers’. Many did not know what this is. But after my presentation, we were inundated with offers to cooperate with various public and private organisations. They had already got in touch with our managers. But they didn’t know what PostAuto could do. So there are exciting times ahead for me!
How I found my current job:
After completing my studies, I was invited by the Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich to return to the location of my internship. After two years, I applied to the PostAuto headquarters in Bern and after another two years, I was headhunted internally. I spent four years working on classic service planning before we began to develop the mobility management project, step by step.
What I learned for this job during my studies:
At present, it is particularly useful for me to switch my thought processes between the different professional worlds. I might have to translate the requirements of a mayor for the technicians building a new app. And if I have to convince our top managers that a car sharing network will NOT pose competition for our primary business, I draw on knowledge from the transport systems field.
My job requires lots of thinking outside of the box at the moment. The interdisciplinary training provided at FH JOANNEUM prepared me well for the challenge.
Job prospects in my field:
Excellent! The field of mobility management is experiencing a powerful upturn. Many want to be part of it but they are all still in the starting blocks.
I am:
- highly motivated
- trustworthy
- well organised
About my job:
In spring, I applied for the creation of an additional post in my section and received confirmation the very same day. I deliberately decided to create a management post above me instead of managing someone myself. Over the next few years, I want to concentrate more on working with the customer rather than strategically promoting the product at the Post Group. You can do that too!
So I can manage my energy and be there for my family. Over the next few years, there will certainly be the chance to pursue a classical career. And I certainly don’t suffer from a lack of appreciation at the moment, anyway!
